AT & BT mullite carborundum bricks for dry quenching

China is a big steel country. After entering the 21st century, the steel industry will emphasize quality rather than quantity. In terms of price, the impact of high energy consumption on steel costs has become one of the main factors restricting domestic steel companies from participating in international competition. Pursuing high quality at low cost is the only way for steel companies to enhance their core competitiveness.

Development of CDQ process

China is a big country of steel. After entering the 21st century, the steel industry will place more emphasis on quality rather than quantity. In terms of price, the impact of high energy consumption on steel costs has become one of the main factors restricting domestic steel companies from participating in international competition. Pursuing high quality at low cost is the only way for steel companies to enhance their core competitiveness.

As the largest energy-saving technology in the ironmaking system, dry coke quenching is attracting the attention of more and more domestic enterprises. Compared with traditional wet coke quenching, CDQ has the advantages of fully reducing environmental pollution, recovering red coke sensible heat, and improving coke quality.

1 Development history of CDQ process

The development of CDQ technology in China can be roughly divided into the following three stages:

(1) In 1978, Baosteel introduced CDQ technology from Nippon Steel, and domestic enterprises had a preliminary understanding of CDQ technology, which marked the beginning of China's CDQ technology.

(2) The period from 1980s to 2004 was the accumulation and digestion period for the development of CDQ technology in China. During this period, many enterprises such as Jinan Iron and Steel, Shougang, Maanshan Iron and Steel introduced CDQ technology and put it into production.

(3) Since 2005, it has been a period of rapid development of China's CDQ process. More than 100 sets of CDQ have been put into operation, distributed in more than 50 coking enterprises, and the coke processing has increased by more than 100 million tons. Many independent coking enterprises have achieved Full CDQ production.

2 Development bottleneck of CDQ process

Although the CDQ process has been recognized to a certain extent in recent years, the promotion progress has been slow for many reasons. For example, the refractory materials in the ramp area of the CDQ coke oven do not meet the design and service life, and the damage is serious, forcing the CDQ furnace to be shut down for maintenance; for example, the CDQ furnaces such as Kunshan Iron and Steel, Maanshan Iron and Steel, Nanshan Iron and Steel all have over-inclined within one year of production. The refractory material in the road area was broken and damaged and was forced to stop production for maintenance.
